Pick 1998 points at random in the plane. Suppose no three of them lie on a line (which would be true if they were chosen truly at random). Is there always a line in the plane which divides the set of points into two equal parts?

Problem by Alberto L Delgado, from the now extinct Bradley Problem of the Week.
